Digifabshop is looking for an experienced Digital Fabrication Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. About us - Digifabshop is an agile, digital fabricator specializing in custom architectural interiors, building components, and fine art fabrication. Our work spans retail, hospitality, commercial, architectural features, and large-scale artwork. About the position - Digital Fabrication Engineers play a key role in assisting project managers and coordinating with production teams in the fabrication process. Duties / Responsibilities: Develop 3D models for project components using multiple software platforms, including parametric modeling while maintaining critical path schedules. Develop 2D CAD drawings, with details and accuracy necessary for fabrication. Develop build-able, efficient component and assembly designs in collaboration with project management, production management, client design teams and consulting engineers. Specifying and assisting in sourcing of materials appropriate to design intent, assembly logic, field constructability, and engineering requirements. Effectively communicate with all internal departments to maintain critical path schedules and comply with company quality control standards. Read architectural drawings to extract information pertinent to project scope. Offline programming CNC machinery includes nesting, tool pathing, collision detection, feeds, and speeds, etc. Adherence to company policy, safety, SOPs, and direction from management. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience). 3-5 years of relevant experience. Expertise in AutoCAD, Solidworks, Rhinoceros, and/or Grasshopper. Experience with Catia is a plus. Expertise in WoodWOP, RhinoCAM, Vcarve, Mazak Smart Systems, Cut Rite. Experience with Powermill is a plus. Experience designing and detailing architectural components, furniture assemblies and custom millwork projects. Extensive knowledge of construction and manufacturing materials and methods, including metal, wood, stone, and glass. Experience in designing for fabrication and assembly using CNC machines. Experience with industrial robots is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office platforms (Excel, Word, etc.). Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in an office setting with occasional responsibilities in the production area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, fumes, and loud noises. Employees are always required to wear P.P.E. while on the manufacturing floor. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Hours : (full-time) M-Th, 8 am – 5 pm | Fr, 8 am – 2:30 pm Location : Onsite - Albany, NY Pay Range : $85k - $100k (Individual compensation is based on various factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors).
