Inpatient Nurse Intern - PRN Summary: In the role of Nurse Intern you will function under the supervision of a licensed nurse to contribute to the safety and wellness of our community. Massac Memorial Hospitals focus is to function as a team to provide the best care to our patients and has initiated the CARES program. This is an acronym for Courteous, Attentive, Respectful, Enthusiastic, and Safe. Duties and Responsibilites: Provide personal care including toileting, bathing, shampooing, shaving, position changes, making beds, preparing patients for meals, feeding patients, passing ice water. Answering call lights and telephone. Collecting and recording vital signs on patients. Collecting and recording input and output on patients Assisting our patients with walking to promote a safe environment. Utilization of safety devices such as cane, walker, wheelchair, shower chair, etc. Performing nursing skills such as catheters, NG tubes, staple/suture removal, basic dressing changes that do no require medications or ointments, and initiating IV therapy under the direct supervision of licensed nurse once your nursing program show proof of successful completion of the skill. Application of critical thinking to prioritize tasks and patient care. Maintain a clean safe environment for our patients Performing any other duties as assigned. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Active BLS Must show proof of being currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program AND must have completed the first semester AND must have an active certification as a nursing assistant.
