University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery Job Title: Research Associate Open Rank Position #00803645 - Requisition #30775 Job Summary: The Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery has an opening for a full-time (part time optional) research faculty position in the rank Research Associate or Senior Research Associate. This position will partner with the Director of the Center for Outcomes Research and Policy to: (1) Enhance the Department of Surgery's research statistical services and ensure the alignment of group goals and objectives with the mission, vision, and goals of the University of Colorado. (2) Collaborate in the development and performance of statistical services for all group projects; to include service quality, data integrity, and timeliness of deliverables. (3) Manage a wide array of research projects and statistical programming to meet Center objectives Supervision received: This research faculty position will be supervised by the Director of the Center for Outcomes Research and Policy Supervision exercised: This position may have supervisory responsibilities with research professionals. Work Performed:Project Management In collaboration with the Director of the Center for Outcomes Research and Policy manage the operational processes across all projects and achieve optimal efficiency. Monitor progress and performance of projects on an ongoing basis and ensure that services performed are compliant with regulatory requirements and quality standards and within budgetary limits. Providing ongoing status updates to the Director of the Center for Outcomes Research and clinical investigators regarding ongoing projects and expected timelines. Keep abreast of emerging technologies and their potential application to statistical activities. Identify and make recommendations regarding the acquisition and development of new information systems (including software and hardware) needed to support statistical operations. Collaborate with Director of the Center for Outcomes Research and Policy to present educational programming for investigators and staff on research methods and applicable literature Collaborate with Center for Outcomes Research and Policy to adjudicate projects and viability for research among submitted proposals. Statistical Programming In collaboration with the Director of the Center for Outcomes Research and Policy oversee or develop workflow and operational processes to maximize standardization of approaches across all projects and achieve optimal efficiency. Monitor progress and performance of projects on an ongoing basis and ensure that services performed are in compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards and within budgetary limits. Serve as a liaison between the statistical faculty of the Center for Outcomes Research and Policy and with the non-statistical faculty/investigators of the Department of Surgery to ensure that the activities of the non-faculty statisticians are appropriately coordinated with the faculty and aligned with the research goals of the department. Represent the Center in grant proposals, presentations, and other interactions with investigators. Provide input into marketing materials (slide presentations, brochures, etc.) regarding statistical capabilities and services. Collaborate with Director of the Center for Outcomes Research and Policy to initiate educational programming for investigators and staff on research methods and applicable literature. Statistical Analysis and Contribution to Clinical Research Projects Provides statistical analysis, development of graphs and tables and description of methodology and/or results suitable for peer-reviewed publications for assigned team projects. Incorporate appropriate statistical methodology and documentation of statistical coding for ongoing research projects. Develop strategy for data presentation and inference. Ensure appropriate interpretation of statistical deliverables in collaboration with other functions. Collaborate with Director on statistical aspects of clinical research or analytic project. Collaborate with project leader, principal investigator, and other clinical investigators to affect significant decisions regarding the research project, and to jointly achieve objectives and timelines. Minimum Qualifications Research Associate: A Master's degree in (bio) statistics or research field. 2 or more years of experience as a statistical programmer and/or statistician in clinical research with track record of collaborating on peer-reviewed publications and data analysis. Minimum Qualifications Senior Research Associate: A Master's degree in (bio) statistics or research field. 7 or more years of experience as a statistical programmer and/or statistician in clinical research with extensive track record of collaborating on peer-reviewed publications and data analysis. Preferred Qualifications Research Associate: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Familiarity with a range of statistical software with fluency in a core language such as R or SAS and advanced programming capabilities (e.g. SAS macros, R functions/packages). Strong statistical knowledge and analytical skills. Excellent organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Excellent working knowledge of clinical, operational, and statistical issues as they pertain to the operations and analyses of observational research. Preferred Qualifications Senior Research Associate: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Familiarity with a range of statistical software with fluency in a core language such as R or SAS and advanced programming capabilities (e.g. SAS macros, R functions/packages). Strong statistical knowledge and analytical skills. Excellent organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Excellent working knowledge of clinical, operational, and statistical issues as they pertain to the operations and analyses of observational research. This position has the option of working on a hybrid or fully remote capacity, depending on the needs of the unit.
