Anticipated Start Date: Summer 2024 Position Summary: The tutoring commons coordinator performs a full range of operations and administrative tasks in conjunction with academic support services. In addition, the position provides support services to current students to assist them in cultivating success skills and strategies that enhance their academic and experiential preparation. Example of Job Duties: Under the direction of the Director of Academic Support Services or other administrator , the Tutoring Commons Coordinator is responsible for conducting activities related to the Tutoring Services Center and Learning Commons through effective performance in these essential duties: Collaborate with Academic Support Center Director as needed. Maintain and expand Peer Academic Support Services (PASS) and embedded tutoring programs. Manage the hiring, training and scheduling of peer tutors to support PASS programming and embedded tutoring. Supervise, observe, and regularly evaluate all PASS program tutors. Maintain financial records for PASS activities, including setting and keeping within the budget. This includes electronic record management, payroll, etc. Develop and maintain resources for PASS tutors. Manage communication and collaboration with academic and student services departments to identify appropriate courses for PASS participation and to recruit PASS leaders. Maintain and review data/assessments for continuous improvement of PASS programs, including student and faculty surveys, etc. Assist in the development of tutoring support materials, including online resources related to tutoring and academic support for the Learning Commons (on-campus and online). Manage the use and maintenance of study rooms and equipment. Assist and collaborate in activities of the overall tutoring operation, as assigned. This will include, but is not limited to, developing and delivering training, identifying peer tutors and participating in tutor selection, observing and evaluating tutors, and supervising the Tutoring Center in the Director's absence. Provide strategic direction to the Director of Academic Support. Attend training as necessary to remain current in best practices of peer assisted academic support. This posting includes qualifications, experience and skills but is not limited to the full specifications stated in the job description.Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.). Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required in educational administration or an appropriately related field; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties. Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following: Knowledge of and experience working with academic support programs. Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse students, faculty, and staff. Strong interpersonal communication, supervisory, and organizational skills. Computer literacy and knowledge of educational technology. Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years' experience with tutoring and supervision Experience providing training/professional development Experience using data/assessments for decision making and planning Experience using TutorTrac or TracCloud Salary: $37.48 hourly.
