Kort has some front leg deformities that he was born with but other than running and walking funny, those legs certainly don't slow him down. We have had him evaluated by two vets and both vets say that there is nothing medically that can be done so there should not be any long-term care that any adopter should have to provide unless he would need some long-term pain management or glucosamine. Kort does know the command sit but outside of that command, he doesn't seem to know many other commands. Kort loves to play tug with his humans and will tear toys apart while playing tug but it's just more fun for Kort and his human alike to have a spirited game of tug of war. He is also motivated by soft style treats like pupperonis. Kort will turn up his nose to a simple crunchy milk bone type treat. Kort loves to chew on hard chew bones and to destroy soft stuffed toys. Kort is over-stimulated in the kennel environment and does jump in excitement and is difficult to get on leash. He is not improving with training but once outside with play time, he does settle down and is much easier to re-leash to come back inside. On his way out of the shelter, he is very strong on leash and will jump and pull and re-direct and mouth at the leash but once he has play time, he's much better to walk. We predict, but can't know for sure, that in a home environment, this will greatly improve but any family will need to be patient with him. The staff report that his best personality is that after his bursts of play, Kort is a total cuddle bug and is a loving and trusted friend. Kort is equally motivated by food and human attention. He is very active and on the go but once he has a burst of play, he prefers to have human attention.
