Employer Name: Parkland Transmission (2008) Limited Company description: Specialty Automotive Transmission & Driveline Repair Shop Website: Location of Work: 4702 51 Ave. Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 4H1 Title of Position: Transmission Mechanic (NOC 72410) Vacancies: 2 Type of Position: Permanent, full time Job Duties: • Diagnosis Passenger Car, Truck & SUV Drivability Issues • Remove and Replace vehicle transmissions, transfer cases, differentials. • Disassemble transmission & driveline components, machine components as required, replace worn or faulty parts, assemble transmissions & driveline components, test transmissions & components once re-installed. • Reprogram/relearn transmission electronic computers as required. • Provide training and support to junior technicians on an ongoing basis. Work conditions and Physical Capabilities: • Physical work on vehicles and vehicle components (ability to lift and handle 80-pound components) • Most work will be indoors inside a shop but work outside from time-to-time is required. Skills, Experience and Education Required: • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. • 2 – 3 years’ experience working as an automotive technician• Experience as a machinist and able to use presses and lathes. • Ability to use vehicle computer scanners to diagnose and program cars, trucks, and SUVs. • Experience in rebuilding and repairing vehicle transmissions, transfer cases and differentials. • Ability to test drive vehicles and ability to attain a local Alberta drivers’ license. • Ability to deal with customers – listening to their concerns and explaining repairs and repair charges. • Ability to build repair estimates. • History of stable past work experience Wage & Hours: $ 37.00 per hour, 8-10 hours per day, 5 days per week (Monday – Friday, occasional Saturdays) Overtime pay after 44 hours per week.
