Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Position Description Position Title: Office of rural prosperity intern Department: Office of Rural Prosperity Reports to: Director of The Office of Rural Prosperity Position(s) Supervised: N/A FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position SummaryThe Office of Rural Prosperity (ORP) was created in Spring 2020 at the direction of the Governor Evers to support Wisconsin's rural communities. The Office of Rural Prosperity Intern will help research and implement efforts related to ORP's strategic priorities: Broadband Connectivity and Adoption, Industry and Business Ecosystem Development, Housing Development & Resources, Leadership and Effective Organizational Development, and Promoting Rural Voices, Culture, and Places. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Responsibilities The Office of Rural Prosperity Intern will spend a majority of their time in these activities: Research program and policy alternatives that advance ORP's strategic priorities. Collaborate with regional actors and state agencies to implement large-scale economic development initiatives. Meet with external partners to strengthen relationships and advocate for rural interests. Compile funding opportunities, services, and toolkits/templates for rural and tribal stakeholders. Work with ORP staff to provide technical assistance to rural stakeholders. Learn/utilize Salesforce, WordPress, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams. Other duties as assigned. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Education and Experience: Current enrollment in a degree program, not limited to the following - Public Affairs, Economics, Social Work, Business Administration, Political Science, Rural Development, or a related field. Skills and Talents: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to be flexible in an environment that changes rapidly. Understanding of rural communities. Ability to work independently with direction as needed. Ability to work cooperatively with internal and external WEDC affiliates. High level of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
