Temporary Accommodation Officer / Visiting Officer – Slough Salary: £20.00 an Hour. Full-Time 37 hours. Contract: Three Months – Possibly beyond To directly manage properties acquired for temporary accommodation for homeless households. Tasks include TA void management, lettings, tenancy management, rent arrears, repairs, landlord liaison, evictions and related areas. The role will work closely with the following teams: Housing Needs team Housing Allocation team The Council’s Social Lettings Agency Financial Responsibilities: This post is key in maximising rental revenue from Temporary Accommodation and maximising subsidy fees for managing TA from the DWP. As a consequence, the role has a key revenue responsibility. The post will also focus on minimising revenue loss from all forms of TA where expenditure is circa £500,000 and income generated around £75,000. Main Purpose Of Job: To monitor and visit temporary accommodation tenants and ensure authorised occupation, vacation and repossession on proper discharge of the Council's duties under homelessness legislation and to ensure that all properties are fully compliant with Health and Safety standards, including Health and Housing Safety Rating System and Housing Acts 1985, 2004. To provide support and advice to all temporary accommodation tenants including advice on employment and training and to make referrals to external agencies as appropriate. To undertake project work, including detailed research and negotiation, and lead as required on other projects as appropriate. To maximise rental and fee income from all forms of Temporary Accommodation and to work with Senior colleagues in procuring value for money TA outside the Slough area in conjunction with the Out of Borough Placement Policy.
