Family Partnership Center Ambassador Volunteer Opportunity Family Partnership Center (FPC) Ambassadors are unpaid volunteers who create a welcoming environment for FPC visitors and assist with connecting people to services. The FPC is available to the community as a place to come together for conversation and the exchange of ideas, to participate in athletics and arts programming, and where a variety of nonprofits co-locate and collaborate to offer enhanced services that create real access. It is estimated that the Center serves between 45,000 and 70,000 individuals a year with more than 110,000 service interactions. Ambassadors enthusiastically support, practice, and communicate the agency’s mission and statement of values. Our mission is to bring people together to find the support they need, improving their lives and communities, and building a stronger, safer Hudson Valley. Our Agency Values Integrity - Being honest and trustworthy Compassion – Extending empathy and understanding to others Hope - Believing in the strength of the human spirit and heart, to emerge and thrive in the face of challenge Diversity – Promoting a vison of community comprised of wide-ranging assets Respect - Treating all individuals with dignity and without judgement Community - Recognizing and reinforcing the importance of our world as being comprised of people of differing strengths and perspectives Justice – Promoting social and economic equity and fairness Quality – Striving for excellence in every aspect of our work Requirements : Genuine interest in connecting with the community and providing help to people in need Willingness to learn about Family Services, the Family Partnership Center, and best practices in providing information and referrals Responsibilities : Provide friendly greeting and warm welcome to all FPC visitors Use active listening skills to serve as an ambassador of the FPC and assist with building directions, escorting visitors to their destination, identification of available services and a warm hand-off to service providers, and other reasonable visitor and staff requests. Alert Security and/or Facilities as needs arise Keep main entryway neat, orderly, and inviting Provide or assist with building tours as needed Assist at FPC events including greeting, ushering, and providing directions Competencies : Comfortability approaching and interacting with a diverse population in a kind, respectful, and professional manner Personal alignment with agency values Other Requirements: Complete the standard Family Services background checks Complete required training, including on-site orientation Have reliable transportation to and from the Family Partnership Center for selected shifts Commitment to at least one 4-hour volunteer shift each month Work Environment: Mostly indoors in a comfortable, climate-controlled, accessible multi-floor building We are an equal opportunity employer and our goal is to be a diverse workforce representative of the community we serve.
