The Regional Director, Medical Diagnostics (RDMD) , is a field-based professional responsible for coverage of the US who has a history of diagnostic industry or clinical laboratory experience in breast oncology. The ideal candidate should have: MD in Anatomic Pathology (US-board certified preferred)Experience working in US pathology laboratoryFellowship or certification in molecular pathologySignificant experience in breast pathologyA passion for proactively engaging internal and external leadersExperience in serving as a medical authority for their diagnostic and biomarker areaStrong commercial proficiency and/or experience in product launchAbility to translate and appropriately align commercial and scientific goals and objectivesThe (RDMD), is also responsible for designing and executing external engagement strategies with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Key Decision Makers (KDMs), Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), and key Regional and National Pathology societies consistent with Medical Affairs teams objectives.Additional accountabilities include adhering to internal standard processes and following regulatory and compliance requirements along with sustaining expertise in the diagnostic, biomarker, and competitive landscapes.The RDMD in US Medical Affairs is an MD/PhD and reports to Sr. Director, Medical Diagnostics - Breast. What you'll do: Evaluate and supply expertise to the U.S. diagnostic strategy for current and future AstraZeneca oncology productsCollaborate with relevant business partners for the development, alignment, and execution of the Medical Diagnostic strategy within the coordinated Medical Affairs plan, launch plans, and budgetsIdentify and lead solution-based strategies to address biomarker adoption barriers, gaps, and hurdlesProvide diagnostic leadership on the design and execution of health economic and outcomes research studies and surveys in close collaboration with the Outcomes Research teamRecommend and deliver diagnostics-focused informational content targeted to HCPs, primarily to oncologists and pathologistsDevelop external engagement strategy and own relationships with key leaders in the diagnostic and biomarker area (including clinical authorities and specialized pathologists)Generate pathology-related insights to craft U.S. Medical Diagnostic strategies Minimum Qualifications Advanced medical degree (MD). Ph.D will be considered with breast cancer and pathology experienceMinimum 3 years histopathology and/or medical affairs experienceWork experience in industry, clinical, or research institution with emphasis in pathology or tissue diagnosticsDeep understanding of diagnostic FDA environment, clinical laboratory practices including CAP/CLIA lab requirements and test implementationSolid understanding of medical strategy, clinical diagnostic development, and Field Medical activitiesStrong eye for business, including an understanding of drivers behind evolving diagnostic and pathology landscapeAbility to interact efficiently with both commercial and scientific / medical colleaguesExperience in developing and maintaining new relationships with External ExpertsAbility to travel up to 60% of time Preferred Qualifications Existing relationships with Professional Societies and Scientific Medical AuthoritiesExperience in a strategy-setting role within Medical AffairsConfirmed leadership abilities within a matrixed organizationKnowledge and/or expertise in breast therapeutic areaThe annual base salary for this position ranges from $171,524 to $235,845.50. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
