About Our Opportunity The Highway Design Technician is responsible for providing technical CAD support to the Highway Planning and Design team. Reporting to the Manager, Highway Planning and Design, the incumbent is responsible for the production of maps, preliminary design plans, presentation visuals/materials, construction documents and other deliverables as required using civil engineering drafting, 3D modelling/visualization techniques and various CAD or GIS applications. Primary Accountabilities The Highway Design Technician is responsible for providing technical CAD support to the Highway Design team. Reporting to the Manager, Highway Planning and Design, the incumbent is responsible for the preparation of detailed highway design drawings and final plan production using Auto CAD Civil 3D software while ensuring information is interpreted and represented on drawings correctly. They are responsible for assembling and distributing the final design plans required for construction tenders in conformance with Department CAD standards, and maintaining both the hard copy and electronic drawing inventory.
