The Department also provides services and guidance to municipalities in many areas including land use planning, budget planning and finance, infrastructure development, policy and program development. The Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing is also responsible for ensuring the availability of safe, suitable, and affordable housing for all Nova Scotians. Our work involves making strategic investments, leveraging new funding, and building on critical partnerships to help further position ourselves to meet current and future housing challenges. About Our Opportunity As the Executive Director of Municipal Affairs, you will spearhead a dynamic team, shape policy landscapes, and navigate intricate relationships. Reporting directly to the Associate Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for managing the policy and legislative agenda for the 49 municipalities of Nova Scotia. As the primary point of contact for all municipal governments in the province, you’ll provide strategic direction, guidance, and leadership. You will attend public meetings and consultations regarding highly sensitive and complex areas, such as changes and initiatives related to municipal planning, land use, and governance.
