The Engineering Manager will plan, direct and coordinate activities in the Engineering department, ensuring development and implementation of projects and c ustomer deliverables. This position will oversee daily engineering operation in a cost-effective manner to meet current and future company and c ustomer needs. What you'll do: Team Management (70%) Manage the OCS E ngineering department through staffing, budget development and control, through engineering project management and personnel management. Meet Controls Engineering financial objectives by forecasting Controls Engineering requirements; assisting with an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Develop and refine engineering processes, standards, and associated documentation to increase efficiency and productivity at scale while maintaining and improving quality. Train and develop Engineers, providing technical advice and offering guidance. Coordinate and schedule for all phases of construction development including planning, engineering, construction, commissioning and close out. Lead the evaluation of engineered and technical solutions to benefit company and c ustomer requirements. Review engineering deliverables for quality control and compliance with processes and standards. Provide cross-functional leadership with internal and external stakeholders. Provide direction and leadership and/or mentoring to the engineering group. Writes and administers performance appraisals and performance improvement plans as required . Engineering (30%) Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics as required . Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per the intent of the project requirements. Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation. Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinates factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule. Manage the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required . Ensure validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. Provides field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software. Required skills, knowledge, and experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science required . Other technical degrees may be considered with relevant work experience. 7 + years of systems engineering experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment. 2+ years of experience leading a team including coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews and annual goal setting. Strong proficiency with Alerton , Tridium , or both . Hands-on experience with the embedded controller development lifecycle i.e. requirements, design, implementation, integration testing, deployment, and post production support. Strong project management and people management skills. Strong communication , interpersonal and presentation skills. Physical Demands: Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company needs including to be vaccinated for the flu and/or Covid-19, and subject to all applicable laws. Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet. Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
