Sanitation Worker/Lead/Assistant Manager

The sanitation position is a crew member responsible for cleaning and sanitizing food processing plants in order to reduce the number of bacterial, viruses, yeasts and molds on surfaces and equipment in compliance with levels determined by plant management and regulatory agencies. The sanitation crew is typically expected to achieve complete and effective cleaning and sanitizing within limited periods of time, roughly 4 to 6 hours on average, which normally begins at the end of production at night. This means sanitation shift usually starts after 10pm at night. Sanitation work environment is wet, humid and undergoes extreme temperature changes, alternating between hot to cold. It is important to be aware of how the temperature changes affect you as a sanitation worker. The sanitation work area also has large processing equipment and different chemicals that the sanitation worker works with. It is crucially important for the sanitation worker to be able to work as a team player and willing to change assignments as necessary. The Sanitation worker duties include but not limited to: Performing various tasks requiring long periods of standing, lifting, crouching, etc. Lifting or moving equipment, hoses, chemicals containers weighing 50 pounds or more Performing task requiring exposure to cleaning chemical fully dressed in appropriate PPE Performing daily sanitation of all processing lines/area Ability to read chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets to understand how to properly handle chemicals they will be using Conducting all daily sanitation activities within the processing plant Ensuring food safety and food defense in the plant
