Skills - Must Have: CPA designation or passed CFE exam Able to work 1 day a week in office. We are seeking an experienced Tax Associate to join our modern and diverse public accounting firm. The Tax Associate (Must be CPA designated) will work directly with another Tax Associate, a Tax Manager and two Tax Partners. The firms Tax Department provides tax advisory and tax planning services, handles complex tax filings (e. g. non-resident filings), and supports the rest of the firm. Unlike other firms, our Tax Department is not responsible for the tax filings of the entire firm. We are an advisory and tax planning driven Tax Department. We are looking for a candidate who wishes to have a career in tax and wants to grow with the firm. An ideal candidate may have recently completed their Canadian CPA at a small to midsize accounting firm and is looking to move into a dedicated tax role. Responsibilities: Performing preliminary research into income and indirect tax issues; Preparation of complex and/or specialty tax returns (e. g. deceased returns, multi-jurisdictional filings, treaty-based tax returns, filings for non-residents); Completing a variety of specialty tax forms (eg. T2057, T2054, T2062); Communicating with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on behalf of our clients; Preparing objections and voluntary disclosures; Analysis and completion of corporate, personal, partnership, and trust income tax returns; Year-end tax planning analysis; Attend weekly tax group meetings.
