The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. Position Overview The Provincial Chief Medical Officer provides senior medical leadership on behalf of the health system in Manitoba, leading and coordinating the Provincial Medical Leadership Council and the Provincial Clinical Services Integration Council as well as overseeing the medical staff of Shared Health. The Provincial Chief Medical Officer also provides oversight of provincial administrative functions supporting the retention and recruitment of physicians across the province. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring a collaborative, team-oriented working relationship with the Shared Health Chief Executive Officer, the Ministries of Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care and Mental Health and Community Wellness, health authorities, and health system leaders toward the goal of achieving excellence in client-centered care, education and research throughout the province. Reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Provincial Chief Medical Officer is involved in strategic planning and decision making within their portfolio. The Provincial Chief Medical Officer provides organizational leadership on both strategic and operational issues.
