The City of Penticton is looking to fill the position of Engineering Technologist II on our Engineering and Design team. The Engineering and Design team is responsible for the planning, design and construction of the road, pedestrian and cycling network, water distribution system, waste water collection system and the drainage system. Reporting to the Design Supervisor, t he Engineering Technologist II responsibilities include preparation of detail design plans, cost and quantity estimates, tenders, request for proposals, reports, memos and letters. The Engineering Technologist II performs survey pick up and layout work, conducts quality control inspection and regulating construction work performed by private contractors and public works crews to ensure compliance with regulations, standards, contracts, specifications and related requirements. The work will include maintaining accurate records, preparing progress reports, initiating contract change work orders as well as consulting and liaising with a variety of internal and external contacts and liaising with the public on construction issues and complaints, supervises on a project basis, the work of junior staff; and provides a variety of information and assistance to internal and external contacts. The Engineering Technologist II exercises moderate independence of judgment and action in the performance of design and related work within established guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Preform detailed preconstruction surveys, construct layout, grade and alignment checks for the City's capital works program and provide survey services to other departments within the City.
